How to make a liquid text in Photoshop (ketchup)

This is one of the simplest liquid text tutorials. We are going to form a text pattern on the surface of a liquid. The final product is going to be something like this:

Ketchup

So let's start. Create a new document in Photoshop. Height and width according to your preference. Just don't make it too small.

Select the text ( T ) option from the left panel. And type "Ketchup". Choose a color that is less black and more grey. Remember the color code (RGB). I used 41413f as far as I remember.

Now take the brush tool. Select a hard brush from the top panel. Then make small blobs of varying sizes here and there, some on top of the text too.

Now go to the right panel and change the layer style to bevel and emboss (check the box beside it). Do this by clicking the "fx" symbol towards the bottom of the right panel.

Now click filter->liquify

Play with the brush and its settings. I used 50 for both the values. Slightly pull at different places of the text to make it distorted and shapeless like spilled liquid. Then click OK.

Play with the channel mixer to change the color of the text to red. R=+112 G=+94 B=+64

Play with the curves to make the hue exactly as you want it to be.

Now the final step: Click on foreground color and select the same color as that with which you typed "Ketchup" 41413f in my case. Select the paint bucket tool (G). Now fill the layer 1 and I repeat layer 1, with the color.

P.S. You could have typed in Chocolate and turned the color brown.

OK. You just finished creating a liquid text. If you got stuck somewhere feel free to comment. I'll try to help you out.
